...didn't come from a wealthy family. I believe that maybe an earlier generation in my family may have been well off and I believe my parents youth was probably better than most. But when it came to my time, unfortunately I didn't reap the rewards of having the finer things in life. Though I was not homeless and had clothes, I had to live from family to family and wear hand me downs. Without getting deeper into my life, I will say I have always believed that because of the fact that my parents had a life somewhat spoiled, it was easier for them to fall into the traps that later affected my way of life. I will also say that my father was a soldier in Vietnam and when he returned I think the affects of that was the straw that broke the camel's back. But because of having an educated family, my education and etiquette was never compromised. This may be a product of coming from a multicultural or, for those of you who prefer to believe color is a race, mulitracial family. I had certain advantages and upbringing that others weren't privy to, which I believe explains some of the unbalanced opportunities that affect so many in America.
Anyway, the reason I am telling a little about myself is I read an article from The Consumerist that I couldn't believe. Now, some may ask, "I don't know why"? Well after reading it, that's how I felt. Why is it that as adults we become dumber and meaner as we get older? I know it's not everyone, but I think we should ask ourselves the question, why is it that at times in our lives when we are suppose to learn and understand as time goes on, there are adults whose IQ, morality, ethics all that shape us into who we are, drops off the face of the earth? And I am not talking about religion, the hell with religion. I myself do not believe in organized religion and for the record I was raised Catholic. I am talking about common sense, decency, respect, tact, human traits that not only make those around you comfortable and stress free but also one's self. This article is based on a simple object, but this object was used to make such a commentary on the world and how our children aren't even safe from the ignorance of adults. They say children can be so cruel, at a age that this child in this article would be, I don't know if it's fair to say that the child is cruel. I think we may want to change that old cliche and say that children's parents can teach them to be so cruel.
I decided not to talk about the article because I thought The Consumerist did a great job themselves. So please do me a favor and read it. Thanks.
...what I have just seen. In Queens, NY a thug robs a 101 year old woman as she was coming out of her building. He robs her for $33 f%&king dollars. He slaps/punches her a few times and throws her to the ground. It is also suspected that he robbed and assaulted an 83 year old woman afterwords in the same manner for $32. The first woman is said to have suffered a broken cheekbone. I know that this type of crime is nothing new but it still riles me to know that there are individuals out there who have no compassion for anyone when it comes to getting the all mighty dollar. I could care less if this person had a starving family at home or was going to be evicted, or even if they needed an expensive operation, what took place here, there's no excuse(s). There are those who have hard times and may even have people trying to hold them back from getting ahead but that does not give you the right to take from someone. IT'S NOT YOURS!!! Then he decides he is going to harm them as he takes from them, elderly people. He has only exhibited his cowardliness, he has no respect for any human being. I wouldn't even say that his fear of attacking someone who could fight him back is a form of respect, because it's not, it just shows he's a pure PUNK. If I am correct there is a form of ethics ( I guess you can call it this) in the jail and prison system where there are certain things that even criminals do not tolerate. I believe beating on elderly women may be one of them. Maybe that's when someone like this thug will really be judged by his peers. I understand that the police have received eleven hundred calls with solid leads. This is something I am happy to hear. I just hope that they find the right person and don't rush to just arrest someone because the people are angry. This individual needs to be taken off the street as soon as possible.
